21 Day Project: Day 3, 4 & 5.

The Happiness Project- 21 days of getting to know myself better continues.. I was MIA over the weekend so I have a little catching up to do.

Day 3: How Well Do You Know Yourself?

Here’s a list of questions meant to help you think about yourself, your daily habits, your nature, and your interests.

If you unexpectedly had a completely free afternoon, what would you do with that time?  Depending on weather- I would head to the mall to do some shopping or lay out at the pool with a good book.
Are you comfortable or uncomfortable in a disorderly environment? I am comfortable as long as I am not the one that is responsible for this type of environment. If I can help the situation I will.
Do you find it easier to do things for other people than to do things for yourself? For myself. I am getting better about doing more things for others.
How much TV do you watch in a week? About 19 hours.
Are you a morning person or a night person? I am serious about my sleep. During the week I am in bed at 9:30 and up by 6:45. On the weekends I am more of a night person.
What’s more satisfying to you: saving time or saving money? Saving time 100%
Do you like to be in the spotlight? As long as its positive.
What would you do if you had more energy? I would wake up early and run every morning before work. I like starting off my day with a good workout.
If you suddenly had an extra room in your house, what would you do with it? It would be nice to have a little workout room with some weights and a treadmill.
If at the end of the year, you’d accomplished one thing, what’s the one accomplishment that would make the biggest difference to your happiness? Lose 30 lbs.

Day 4: Beware of the Trap of False Choices
It’s very easy to fall into the happiness trap of false choices–of thinking you can either do X or Y, and that’s the choice you have to make. False choices are tempting for a couple of reasons. First, instead of facing a bewildering array of options, you limit yourself to a few simple possibilities.
Watch out for some of the most common false choices:
“I’d rather have a few true friends instead of tons of shallow friends.”
You don’t have to choose between a “real” few and “superficial” many. You can have intimate friends and casual friends. You can have work friends whom you never see outside a professional context. You can have childhood friends whom you see only once every ten years.
“I think it’s more important to worry about other people’s happiness, instead of thinking only about myself and my own happiness.”
“Either I can be financially secure, or I can have a job I enjoy.”
“I can care about people, or I can care about possessions.”

Sometimes, the falsity of a false choice comes from the fact that both choices are true. I have more time than I think and less time than I think. I can accept myself and expect more from myself.
Resolve to: “Beware of the trap of false choices”—sometimes, we can aim to pick both sides of a choice.

Day 5: Identify Your Patron Saints
Identifying your patron saint is a creative, engaging way to think about the great figures that most embody your values. It’s always uplifting to think about such folks, so this is an exercise that I always find tremendously fun.

I havent had time to do this one yet. I plan on doing it this evening.

Happy Monday everyone! Have a gr8 week! :)
Weekend recap will be a long post tomorrow with plenty of pics.
