Hangovers are worse at 25.

Friday night I went to see Lone Survivor. It. Was. Amazing. I wish I would have read the book because I heard that was even better.
Movie snacks.. stayed true to my health kick.

these babies...acting innocent....woke me up
at 7 am
Saturday was my work Holiday Party in Galveston so I headed there around 2 and grabbed a drink with some friends before getting ready.
Beautiful day on the Seawall

it was between nude or pink heels... pink won.

Its never a good idea to get craZy at work parties so we played it cool for a while until we decided to take our party to the strand around 11:30. We went to two different bars, danced to some old jams & had a great time.
And today I found these gems on Instagram ......I can always count on friends to capture my drunkenness awesomeness.

they didn't get the crazy face memo.
Sunday I woke up with a horrible headache and a blurry memory of the events that took place after midnight. Safe to say I had a great time. Yesterday was the laziest day I have had in a while. I laid
on the couch watching GIRLS (<new fav show, have you seen it?!?!) and then went to bed at 7.. I am a grandma.

Happy Monday y'all!

Curled hair don't care.

My straighter died in my luggage while travelling back from my ski trip.. probably because my bag was stuffed to the max weighing 60 lbs. Last week I was in panic mode when I realized the little red -i am on and hot- light was not on. I had a little freak out until I realized I have a curling iron which saved me from having frizz-ball hair at work. I sent the bad boy to Paul Mitchel to get repaired. It was $35 vs buying a new.

This is how my hair has been fixed every day. I I think I have it down, it only takes about 15 minutes and surprisingly my thin-worthless-hair has been holding a curl all day long. Which is pretty amazing and I am a new fan of my curling iron. I shower at night, let my hair air dry, sleep on it, wake up & curl it. I feel like I am using less heat on my hair which is good because my hair could use a break.

Express Ion CurlĀ®
I would recommend this bad boy to anyone.
(& since my hair is short I have a 1 inch)

TGIF!
This week has been pretty great. I have stayed on track with my resolutions.
  • I have not drank alcohol since last Friday
  • Tonight will be the 5th night in a row that I will go to Crossfit & might go tomorrow morning if I feel like getting crazy
  • I have not eaten out
  • I have only eaten peanut butter 3 times
Things are looking up!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

New Year Resolutions

I have tried to write this post a few times now and I cant seem to write something great.. so here it is. A little jumbled up mess of what I need to focus on this year.

During December, the talk about New Year's Resolutions began. I cannot remember the last time I made a commitment and stuck to it, whether it be for a whole year or even a month.Which made me realize what I need to work on this year. When I say something, I need to hold myself accountable & I need to get my priorities in check.

Overall, getting my priorities in check would be the best thing I can do. I need to focus on my needs instead of my wants. Over the past few months I have been catering to my wants more than my needs which has left me with less money in the bank and tighter pants. & it is time I get my shit together.

Eat clean vs wanting pizza and Mexican food
Cook more at home vs grabbing something fast to save time
Crossfit or run 5 days a week vs laying on my couch and watching Housewives
Spend more quality time with family vs going out with friends ~ I have been spending more time with my sister and it is just the best.
Eat Less Peanut butter vs eating it every day

Now the whole being accountable part begins...

Happy Hump Day!

Compliments

I got to thinking about compliments over the weekend...there are people who fish for compliments, people who give compliments and people who don't take compliments well.

I saw some family members that I have not seen in over a year. It was my mother's cousin and her family. I gave this lady a hug and said "You look great! How have you been?". She replied with, "I am good & So do you!"

NO. I didn't believe her. I have put on some lbs and I do not think I look great. Now, I did have my my hair and make up done but when she said that I immediately thought about how tight my pants were and called bullshit. (of course I just thought this in my head)

Her response with a compliment thrown in is just a nice response. I meant what I said.. but I didn't feel she meant what she said.

I have to admit, I am not one to give compliments often, but when I do, I mean them. And I usually  take compliments well but this case it didn't feel sincere.

Ever experienced a fake compliment like that before?

Pinterest Fail

Weekend update on a Tuesday....

Friday night started off with a lovely dinner. I had two of my crossfit friends over. I cooked salmon, sweet potatoes & asparagus. There is a story behind those place mats..... if you were given a blank map of the US, could you fill in each state in the correct location? I couldn't. And it is really sad how many states I actually got correct. So my friend got me these place mats for Christmas.

fancy.

I cooked the salmon on my cast iron skillet and it was amazing.

I busted out the fine china.

Ohh Pinterest.....you leave me with high hopes that I can cook something pretty & great.
Nailed it.

Saturday I had lunch with some family at Ninfas. < one of my all time favorite Mexican food places.

This is what I get when I ask my
brother to take a picture.

family.

Fajita chicken, homemade tortillas & pachuca gravy hit the spot.
Heart attach in a bowl.
Saturday night my sister stayed over and this is her version of the bananas dipped in chocolate with peanut butter.

Sunday we did some shopping. My work Holiday Party is this weekend and I needed to find a dress.
not prego/ prego
Thank goodness I found this little gem at Nordstrom. I can definitly wear this throughout the year.  Glad the party is after the  holidays so I am not as busy!

I am going to wear nude shoes and gold earrings.

Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!

Sketchy ride home.

This pretty much sums up my vacation

The past week in Winter Park was a blast. I will sum it up fast...Went toobing, skied 4 days, the altitude made everything 438219 harder, drank some local blueberry beer (which was amazing), and oh I also got into a strangers car. dun dun dunnnnnn.

Please excuse the grammar in this post, I kind of forgot how to write dialogues and I am sure (",  " ) < these things are in the wrong place.

New Year's Eve Ashton and I went out in the big town of Winter Park, bar hopped & met some crazy individuals. I think the shot we took at midnight sent me over the edge a little. I was ready to go home at 1:00. I was on the verge of spinning and getting really sick. Ashton was not ready to leave the bar yet so I went outside to get a taxi. As soon as I walked outside the taxi was driving off. (Note: Taxis there are big 15 passenger vans that make rounds and it is a flat fee of $5 per person and they drop you off wherever you need to go. The town is super small.) When the taxi drove off I waited for a moment thinking another one would pull up soon. Nope. I was wrong. By this time there are a few other people waiting for the taxi. A guy walks up and asks, "Are you all waiting for a ride home?" Which we all replied Yes.  Then he proceeded to say, "I can drive y'all, I am sober tonight and I am taking people home." Which sounded great. He runs inside for a second then returns points at me and says, "I can only take her because I have a 2 seater truck." My eyes get wide and I look around at the other hopeful passengers... we exchanged looks of "oh shit this is creepy".... I GOT IN HIS TRUCK. (< what the hell Ashten?!)... I get in, buckle my seat belt and pray that I get back to the condo alive. He asks if I have a credit card on me because he needs gas and he can only pay with a card since the actual store is closed at this hour. I said no, I only have a few dollars left on me (thinking he wouldn't try to rob a girl for just a few dollars)...he says it's cool, I should have enough gas... As we are driving to the condo I am very aware and make sure that we are going in the right direction, which we were... he gets a phone call and I hear his side of the conversation... "Yea man, what bar are you at, I am taking this chick home and then I will come pick you up, do you have a credit card on you because I need some gas..oh yea I got that for you too, I will hook you up bro, see you soon." .......he pulls up to my condo- I give him $20 jump out and get in the condo quick.

Not the safest/best decision I have ever made.
I said some prayers and thanked God for getting me home safe.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas
& Happy New Year!

I am so thankful today is Friday and I have the next 2 days to rest up.

I need to go shopping this weekend, my work Holiday Party is next Saturday and I need to find something to wear. I think I want a purple dress- something that I dont have to buy new shoes for. We will see if I stick to my plan.
